Laken Hope Riley was a 22-year-old nursing student from Woodstock, GA with her whole life ahead of her. Before class, Laken made a routine of taking her daily jog through a specific trail system which bordered the beautiful lakes of the University of Georgia Athens campus. However, when Laken failed to return to her apartment the afternoon of Thursday, February 22, 2024 - her roommate became concerned and notified the police. Laken Riley’s disappearance and the way in which she was discovered would spark nationwide outrage…while a 26-year-old immigrant from Venezuela quickly became the poster child for violent offenders who enter the United States illegally, as the presidential primary approached and was just days away…
